GreenPlan FAQ

What is CO2e?

Greenhouse gas emissions are expressed as "CO2e emissions" or "carbon dioxide equivalent." All Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming are combined and expressed as an amount of carbon dioxide. This amount would produce an equivalent warming effect.

How is CO2e calculated?

CO2e is calculated using the full fuel cycle emission factors published by the Department of Climate Change in the National Greenhouse Accounts (NGA) Factors.

What target should I set for my fleet?

Setting a CO2e target will vary for each fleet. GreenPlan adopts an Avoid, Reduce, Offset approach. Speak with your LeasePlan representative to help you design a GreenPlan.

Who are Greenfleet and what do they do?

Greenfleet exists to make a difference not a profit. Greenfleet makes it simple for organisations to reduce their impact on the environment by helping to avoid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to offset those emissions that remain.

Greenfleet is an Approved Abatement Provider under the Australian Government’s Greenhouse Friendly™ initiative. Greenfleet offsets greenhouse gas emissions by planting forests that soak up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Greenfleet’s forests are made up of a wide variety of Australian native trees that also help to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and provide habitat for native animals.
